Assault on Cup Final Day

Whilst at the 2015 FA Cup Final at Wembley…

Our client, following an argument with a fellow supporter, took hold of the victim and caused him to fall down several flights of seats, which resulted in him fracturing his arm in three places.

Our client had no previous convictions and was a family man of impeccable character. As the injuries were serious he was charged with a “s20” wounding offence. Given the severity of the injuries, the magistrates declined to deal with the case and the matter was sent to the Crown Court for sentence.

Julian Linskill was instructed to attend at the Crown Court sitting in Harrow and present a plea of mitigation that would save our client from going to prison and oppose any application for a Football Banning Order.

With the benefit of the CCTV of the incident and mitigating factors, together with excellent testimonials, we were able to persuade the Court not to impose an immediate custodial sentence and not to make a Football Banning Order.

This was an excellent result for our client as he kept his job, did not have to spend a day in custody, and can still go to watch the football.
